(#SpecMagShorts) Meet Grammy Award-Winning Producer, College Professor Swagg R’Celious
Swagg R’Celious is a Grammy award-winning producer and songwriter who works with some of the best artists crafting their latest hits. His portfolio is ongoing as he has worked with artists like Snoh Aalegra, H.E.R, K.Michelle, and Kehlani, along with many others. He also founded his production company, Progressive Musik Group.
In this episode of Spectacular Magazine Shorts, Swagg R’Celious talks about his 2022 Grammy nomination for the Best R&B Album of the Year for Snoh Aalegra’s Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies. and his upcoming projects. As a college professor, he also offers advice for those entering the music business. He discusses how he merges his music and teaching careers. He finds it beneficial that he is active in the music industry, so his teachings are coming from current real-life experiences.
He says “Part of my inspiration being a college professor is to be a conduit between real-world experience and the classroom. When I was in school, I didn’t have a lot of professors who were active in the industry, so that perspective was limited.” The combination of both careers allows him to bring students’ knowledge about the music industry and allow them to showcase their talents as well. He sometimes brings students along on projects to gain exposure to cowriting when appropriate. He believes “this is what I should do; provide them opportunities.”
Swagg R’ Celious filled us in on his newest project, developing artists such as Kate Stewart and Leo the Kind. He is also exploring different music genres to diversify his sound, and even hints he might release his own project soon.

About Swagg R’Celious
Born David Arcelious Harris in Manchester Georgia, Swagg R’Celious received his name as an undergrad at Lagrange College studying creative music & technology when an anonymous girl wrote a letter to him about his undeniable charisma, confidence, and swag.
As a child, he grew up watching his older siblings involved in music and following in their footsteps. At eight years old, his family created a gospel band, and he was front in center dancing and singing like a “Gospel Michael Jackson”. As he got older, he ventured towards writing music and poetry and from there discovered his passion for songwriting.
Currently, Swagg R’Celious is nominated for a Grammy award for ‘Best R&B Album of the Year’ for Snoh Aalegra’s “Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.” In the past, he was nominated for 4 Grammys while working alongside H.E.R and bringing home the award for ‘Best R&B Album’ in 2018.
Along with his successful music career, he has also embarked on a new journey as a college professor at NYU & Berklee College of Music. Having graduated from LaGrange College and receiving his master’s degree from NYU, he emphasizes education and enjoys sharing his expertise with students.
