Kesha Dozier Has Made The Chocolate Boutique In Raleigh ‘Chocolate Central’
RALEIGH – Kesha Dozier grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the chocolate capital of America. The local chocolate factory constantly filled the streets with the sweet scent of warm fudge. Chocolate was not only a part of her environment but her family too. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve making chocolate in the kitchen with her mother. Later on, Kesha’s roots inspired her to open The Chocolate Boutique. (Scroll down and take a tour of The Chocolate Boutique)
Dozier has studied organic chemistry and physiology, but decided to pursue her love for chocolate, and graduated from Ecole Chocolat, a French chocolatier school. Kesha has traveled abroad to Italy, Spain, and Belgium while honing her skills. She has also spent time learning from a family that has been making chocolate for five generations.
Another one of Kesha’s passions is hot yoga or according to her husband, “a brutal form of self-torture.” Yoga exercises are performed in a humid room, which is meant to recreate the environment that Buddha lived in. At one point in time, Kesha wanted to build a business for it but was persuaded by her husband to pursue her love for chocolate. Safe to say, the community thanks him for this.
The Chocolate Boutique
The Chocolate Boutique is located in Lafayette Village (8480 Honeycutt Rd) and serves a variety of chocolate treats for any occasion. One of Kesha Dozier’s passions is her community, and bringing people together for a unique experience. Because of this, they specialize in chocolate-making parties. She also offers suggestions for wine pairings.
One of their best-selling items is their bacon chocolate. It consists of Applewood Smoked Bacon cooked to a crisp, smothered in Belgian Chocolate. Another bestseller is their chocolate caramels. “Who isn’t a caramel person, right?” Kesha laughs. Their ingredients are authentic and sourced from all across the globe. Seventy percent of their cocoa beans are grown on the west coast of Africa. The boutique is Black woman-owned and has quickly become ‘Chocolate Central’ in Raleigh for its high-quality treats.
