Greensboro Police Shoot, Kill Teen During Traffic Stop
GREENSBORO, NC — This past Sunday night (Aug. 28), a teenage boy was shot and killed by a Greensboro police officer following a traffic stop due to suspicion.
Seventeen-year-old Nasanto Antonio “Duke” Crenshaw of Hope Mills was stopped by police as he drove on West Market Street. According to the Greensboro Police Department, Crenshaw was driving a reported stolen car. There were two other teenagers in the vehicle with Crenshaw as well.
During the stop, police say Crenshaw pulled off as they approached the vehicle and drove for a few blocks as police pursued soon after. Officers told WRAL news that the other teens in the car hopped out and fled from police during a second stop.
During that stop, Crenshaw hit the gas and rammed one of the police cars in another attempt to flee. According to witnesses, it was then that the officer fired his weapon, hitting Crenshaw in the neck.
Crenshaw was pronounced dead at the scene of the traffic stop.
The victim’s mother told WRAL that her son was unarmed and the vehicle that was determined to be stolen by police was actually hers. Per protocol, the officer was placed on administrative duty, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting.
The family is holding funeral services this Saturday, September 3 at 1 p.m. in the Wiseman Mortuary Chapel in Fayetteville. Crenshaw is survived by his parents and five siblings.
There will be more updates in the next coming days surrounding this story.

This individual was posting weed pictures and his mom was posting pictures of him giving gang signs at 9 years old on his Facebook page.
I’m sure he was completely innocent and would never try to endanger the life of a police officer.
