For a long time, Black TV shows, which are called so because of the participation of African Americans, were not on TV. Today, they are in demand among viewers from all over the world. These programs are distinguished by a particular manner of presenting various events, from politics to culture. African Americans are not shy about expressing their opinions, so their truthfulness and boldness of judgment distinguish such shows.

There are Two Types of TV Programs with African Americans

The first group of programs includes shows and sitcoms, covering the topics of personal and family life. Here, African Americans certainly have something to tell. The question of mutual understanding between family members, parents and children, brothers and sisters, invariably arises. The discussion of romantic relationships is also replete with realism and a touch of witty humor.

The second group includes more serious programs analyzing political events in the U.S. and other countries. Leading events are presented from a rather bold angle of view, with barbs and witticisms. The topic of discrimination, which does not recede even in the 21st century, is not hushed up. It is expressed in the difficulties of African Americans with finding work and trying to get out into the world. The “Black” shows speak about all these urgent problems, especially truthfully and with knowledge of the matter.

Top Black reality television hosts and judges have appeared on various shows, including dating contests, The Money Drop, classic game shows, and talent shows like The Voice or America’s Got Talent. While the contestants change each season, the Black hosts and judges stick around season after season. But which one is the most memorable?

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is popular entertainment in the USA and other countries, where each participant has a chance to win $1 million using their knowledge and erudition. The game was first released on television on August 16, 1999. During the show’s existence, such famous black personalities as Cedric the Entertainer (Season 12) and Terry Crews (Season 13 and Season 14) took part in it.

American Idol

The first season of American Idol started in 2002. The jury consists of famous musicians and producers. The selection of participants is quite tough. The show was attended by Diana Ross, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson.

The X Factor

The X Factor is a British project that has gathered many famous personalities, including African Americans. After the release of The X Factor, it shot to mega success and became popular in many countries worldwide. Talented personalities such as L.A. Reid, Kelly Rowland, and Melanie Brown left their mark on The X Factor Show’s history.

The Voice

The popular TV show ‘The Voice’ featured many black performers and judges. Here are just a few: Usher, Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams, Cee Lo Green, Alicia Keys, Will.i.am, Seal.

The Greatest Black Sitcoms of All Time
