Emergency Room Nurse Courtney Geels Is Running For NC’s Congressional District 4
HILLSBOROUGH, NC – Courtney Geels states, “I am running for Congress because our nation needs healing. The media is distorting the truth and dividing our people. Establishment politicians have given up the fight for America. We need courageous voices to stand up for freedom against government overreach and a broken bureaucracy. If you want mandates, broken promises, and worn-out policies, send a politician; but if you want to heal our nation and get things done in Washington, send a nurse.”
Courtney grew up in Hillsborough and graduated from Orange High School. She got her nursing degree from Bob Jones University and worked in the Emergency room at WakeMed. After a couple of years, she became a travel nurse and worked all over North Carolina. She eventually traveled to Seattle, where she met her husband Bryan, and they were married in 2020.
Courtney is passionate about serving people and giving her life for the good of others. As a nurse, she fights for quality healthcare for her patients and she always stands up for the vulnerable. She wants to take the skills of assessment, getting to know and building rapport with people, and then advocating for their needs as a Representative in the Federal government. She is running for Congress because she felt the federal government was making decisions that were affecting her family and she shouldn’t do anything to stand up for them. She wants to make sure that none of the people in District 4 ever feel like that. She wants to make sure that she is accessible to all constituents and that they will have an advocate in government for them.
She is coming directly from the workforce in the hospital. She sees that most politicians (like big business) are so far removed from the problems they say they are working on, that they are so out of touch with knowing who or what needs help. Courtney will advocate for the everyday American.
Courtney Geels’ top priorities are:
- Stop executive orders. No one person should be able to make and enforce the law. Courtney believes that centralized power takes power away from the People and our freedoms and quality of life will be harmed. She believes that power corrupts, and most problems we see in our nation, you can follow them and find money and power-grabbing in all of those situations. She wants to bring power to the People.
- Advocating for quality medical care. As a nurse, she sees that Medicaid and Medicare regulations drive how hospitals operate. She wants to bring her expertise and knowledge into policy to promote autonomy for physicians and quality medical care. She wants to give more resources for mental health care (preventative, acute, and chronic needs). She wants to prioritize making sure that working Americans have access to quality healthcare. She wants to eradicate regulations that put “middle-man” companies in place that increase the price of pharmaceuticals. And she wants to increase transparency in pricing across the board in medical systems to drive down costs.
-
Promote Parent choice in education. With the plan Courtney has for education, she wants to create a free market in education in the form of vouchers for all parents (no matter their socioeconomic status) to have the ability to use the public funds designated for their child in public, private, charter, or homeschool. If she is able to achieve the full plan it would create more schools, increase teacher pay, decrease regulation on teachers, decrease class sizes, give parents a choice and voice in their child’s education, and it would tailor education to the specific child’s needs and gifts.
- Stop inflation and help working families have control over their finances again. We see that the price of goods, food, and gas are around double what they were a couple of years ago. We are in an unsustainable pattern of inflation. Courtney wants to bring common sense fiscal policy to Washington to secure a budget and make sure Congress is managing taxpayer money prudently and FOR THE PEOPLE. Spending should ensure American safety and prioritize making sure we have the supply and manufacturing to promote jobs and decrease dependence on other countries. We saw in the pandemic that dependence on China caused severe shortages of hospital equipment, and it is Congress’ job to make sure they encourage business production to be in America.
“I hope to earn your vote to represent you in the House of Representatives. I will humbly listen to your needs, and I will fight for the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for every person in my district.”
