Duke Opens New Season at No. 7 in Preseason AP Poll
DURHAM, NC – The Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team is ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press preseason poll released Monday, marking the 15th consecutive season that the Blue Devils made their debut in the top 10.
Under first-year head coach Jon Scheyer, Duke also extends the nation’s longest streak of being ranked in the top 10 at any point in a season to 27 consecutive years. The next closest program is Kansas, which has held a top-10 ranking at some point in each of the last 17 seasons.
Duke returns four letterwinners from last season’s team, led by junior captain Jeremy Roach and welcomes 11 newcomers, including seven freshmen that comprise the nation’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class.
