North Carolina Central MBB Hands Morgan State 83-63 Loss At Home

Durham, NC – The North Carolina Central men’s basketball team sent Morgan State back home with an 83-63 loss on Saturday evening.

Brendan Medley-Bacon and Justin Wright had outstanding shooting nights in this game. Medley-Bacon immediately impacted the game with a posterizer on #31 Ty Horner. Brendan also went 5-5 from the free throw line in the first half.  Medley-Bacon finished the night with 17 points. Justin Wright led the team in points at 25 points and put up his first career double-double.

The score was 42-31 at to end of the half. In the second half, Coach Levelle Moton went to his bench including  Fred Cleveland and Cameron Butler. Cleveland ended the night with nine points. Both Butler and Cleveland kept the intensity the Eagles had at the beginning of the game which is one reason why they won by 20.

Coach Moton says that the win was attributed to the rebound differential. NCCU held a 45-22 rebound differential against Morgan State, which is a vast improvement since their last matchup.

NCCU MBB plays Coppin State on Monday in the McDougald-McLendon Arena.  Coach Moton says that he prepares to shut down Coppin State’s point guard. Coach Moton says “We’ve got to meet aggression with aggression”. Brenden Medley-Coppin says that his mentality headed into games is “insert my presence early on, make them play me”. That is when his teammates can put up numbers.

Morgan State’s Lewis Djonkam finished the night with 19 points.
