Police Report Durham Juvenile Arrested For Abducting 6-Month-Old Baby With Knife
DURHAM, N.C. — A juvenile has been arrested for abducting a baby with a knife near an apartment complex Thursday morning (April 6), according to the Durham Police Department.
Shortly after 7:40 a.m., officers said they were called to the 2800 block of Courtney Creek Boulevard, an apartment complex off Highway 55 near East Cornwallis Road, in reference to a child abduction of a six-month-old baby.
When police arrived, investigators spoke to the baby’s mother who described the minor who took off with her baby. The mother said the minor was a female and she threatened her with a knife during the abduction.
Officers said they canvassed the area and found the baby in a nearby apartment. The baby is safe and back with her mother, officers confirmed to WNCN.
Police identified the suspect as a juvenile and took her into custody.
They said she has been transferred to headquarters for questioning. Authorities have not released any specifics about any possible charges she will face.
