Durham Police Charge Man in April Murder And Attempted Murder

DURHAM, NC – The Durham Police Department has arrested and charged Marcus Dontae Carpenter, 32, of Durham, for the murder of Daryl Paige, 37, of Rougemont.

Marcus Dontae Carpenter was arrested in the 1300 block of S. Roxboro St. Outstanding warrants was served for first-degree murder and attempted murder. Marcus Dontae Carpenter was transported to the Durham County Jail and received no bond. The second victim, in this case, is still in critical condition.

Shortly after 12:53 a.m. on April 16, 2023, officers responded to a gunshot wound in the 900 block of Clarendon St. When officers arrived, they found two male victims who had been shot. Emergency Medical Services responded and transported one victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
