(Trailer) HBO Original Documentary LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER Debuts In May

HBO Original documentary LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER, directed by Oscar® and Emmy®-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams (“Life Animated,” HBO’s “The Apollo”) and Brooklyn Sudano, daughter of Donna Summer, debuts May 20 on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

The Donna Summer documentary ‘Love to Love You, Donna Summer’ takes a dive deep into the life of ‘The Queen of Disco’.

LaDonna Adrian Gaines also known as Donna Summer was an American singer and songwriter in the 1970s and early 1980s who became very well-known in the disco world. Her hits consisted of ‘Love to Love You Baby’, ‘I Feel Love’, and ‘Last Dance’. All of which created her rise in and expansion of the disco community.

She became known globally. She was a five-time Grammy winner and was the first artist to win a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance.

Donna Summer wasn’t a woman to play with, she earned every standing ovation and gained multiple number-one hits during her career. Many viewed her as the woman that could make a crowd dance and maybe even throw a couple of bras as well.

She passed away in February of 2012 due to lung cancer but her legacy still lives on.

Synopsis:

Shaped by Summer’s own reflections, the memories of close family, friends, and colleagues, and filled with the sounds of Summer’s songs, LOVE TO LOVE YOU, DONNA SUMMER is an in-depth look at the iconic artist as she creates music that takes her from the avant-garde music scene in Germany to the glitter and bright lights of dance clubs in New York, to worldwide acclaim, her voice and artistry becoming the defining soundtrack of an era. A deeply personal portrait of Summer on and off the stage, the film features a wealth of photographs and never-before-seen home video footage – often shot by Summer herself – and provides a rich window into the surprising range of her artistry, from songwriting to painting, while exploring the highs and lows of a life lived on the global stage.
