Bulls Down Mets in Walkoff Fashion At Home

DURHAM, NC – Bulls catcher Nick Dini crushed two hits, including a home run, with center fielder Greg Jones and right fielder Ruben Cardenas also going deep, while left fielder Kameron Misner’s game-winning run-scoring single gave Durham a 5-4 victory over the Syracuse Mets on Sunday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Entering the last of the ninth even at 4-4, SS Tristan Gray singled to right and DH Niko Hulsizer drew a walk to begin the frame. Misner would then rip a 1-1 pitch into right field to bring across Gray and cue the celebration.

After the Mets started the scoring in the opening frame, Dini and Jones smashed back-to-back home runs as part of a three-run second to give the Bulls a 3-1 advantage. Cardenas would then club a solo shot, his team-best 16th of the season, to up the margin to three before Syracuse answered with a two spot in the fourth to make it a one-run ballgame. The Mets would then even the contest with a single tally in the sixth to set up Misner’s heroics.

Durham reliever Erasmo Ramirez (2.2 IP, SO) earned the victory with 2.2 innings of support. Syracuse right-hander Hunter Parsons (1.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, BB, 3 SO) suffered the defeat.

Following off days on Monday and Tuesday, the Bulls begin a six-game road series versus the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, on Wednesday, June 28. The first pitch is set for 7:05 pm.

After that series, Durham returns home to Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Monday, July 4 to start a six-game series versus the Norfolk Tides, the Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The first pitch for that contest is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
