Durham Police Charge Two Juveniles In June Shooting; Make Arrests In Fatal Jan. Shooting
DURHAM, NC – Durham Police investigators have charged two juveniles in connection with a shooting that occurred on East Weaver Street on June 12, 2023.
At approximately 2:04 p.m. on June 12th, officers responded to a gunshot wound in the 3000 block of East Weaver Street. A male juvenile stated he was sitting on the porch when suspects started shooting from a vehicle. The juvenile was shot and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. During this shooting, one round also entered a residence, and several vehicles were struck by gunfire.
On July 17, 2023, juvenile petitions were filed against two 15-year-old male suspects on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Both juveniles are in custody.

Durham Police Make Arrest In Fatal Shooting
Durham Police investigators have charged Deonte Devon Percell, 28, of Durham, and Dominique La’Ron Percell, 27, of Durham in a fatal shooting that occurred on January 31, 2023.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on January 31st, officers responded to a shooting in the 4100 block of Sudbury Road. Upon arrival, officers located four adult males who had been shot. Jason Epps, 34, of Durham was pronounced deceased at the scene. Terence Kimble, 58, of Durham, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two other male victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deonte Percell and Dominique Percell have been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflicting serious injury, two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Deonte Percell has been arrested and booked in the Durham County Jail with no bond. Dominique Percell is currently incarcerated in another county and warrant service is pending.
Based on preliminary investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident. This is an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.
