(Trailers) Movies To Watch That Are Premiering July 21 – July 23

With record-breaking heat globally this week, it’s a perfect time to catch a few movies in the coolness of a theater and/or your home. Here are 5 movies I recommend watching that are coming out this weekend Friday, July 21 – Sunday, July 23.

THE ISLAND

Upon receiving news from his mother that a tragic death has once again occurred on the island, Mark returns home. Back on the island, Mark consoles his mother as they bury his younger brother. After the funeral, he sets his sights on finding who is responsible for the murder. STEPHEN CURRY: UNDERRATED

“Stephen Curry: Underrated” is the remarkable coming-of-age story of one of the most influential, dynamic, and unexpected players in the history of basketball. A MOTHER’S INTUITION

Don’t miss the thrilling suspense “A Mother’s Intuition” this Sunday, July 23rd, 2023, at 9p/8c on TV One. This poignant thriller unravels the story of Toni, portrayed by Denise Boutté, who is a young, pregnant woman grappling with the sudden death of her husband. In a tragic turn of events, Toni is told her baby was stillborn, but she knows that something isn’t right. A longtime friend, and private investigator, played by Matt Cedeño, helps her on her shocking quest to find the truth. The dynamic cast includes Cicely (Brely Evans), Simone (Hazel Renee), Dr. Ken Zarada (Jeff Marchelletta), Dr. Linda Snyder (Rachelle Carson Begley), and Dr. Chaundra (Tamar Braxton).

OPPENHEIMER

During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. A film by Christopher Nolan. Stars David Dastmalchian, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Christopher Nolan, Josh Hartnett, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Kenneth Branagh, Matthew Modine, Rami Malek, Tony Goldwyn, Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz, Jack Quaid, Charles Roven,  and Emma Thomas.

Of course, I recognize that the movie below is also officially opening on July 21. But it’s already sold out in many theaters. Warner Bros. has done a masterful job in marketing this movie. My recommendation is superfluous.

Barbie

July 21A Barbie doll living in Barbieland is expelled from the world for not being perfect enough, too eccentric, and not fitting the usual mold. She goes on an adventure in the real world and by the time she returns to Barbieland to save it, she has gained the realization that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in oneself. Stars Ryan Gosling, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, Margot Robbie, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Greta Gerwig, and Emma Mackey.
