Duke WBB Wins in 23-24 Season Opener Against Richmond

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils women’s basketball team opened the season in a dominant manner as they defeated the Richmond Spiders 83-53 on Monday afternoon in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Blue Devils were led by sophomore guard Reigan Richardson who finished the game with 28 points (12-15 FG) and six rebounds. Richardson scored 15 points in the 3rd quarter to help Duke take control of the game.

Freshman guard Oluchi Okananwa chipped in a double-double effort with 22 points and twelve rebounds in her first game as a Blue Devil.

The Richmond Spiders were led by forward Addie Budnik, who finished the game with 17 points and six rebounds. Forward Rachel Ullstrom finished with eleven points and two steals.

The Duke Blue Devils women’s basketball team will return to action on Thursday, November 9th, when they host Coastal Carolina University at home. Tipoff is set for 7pm EST.
