Municipal Election 2023 Results In The Triangle; Low Voter Turnout
WAKE FOREST, N.C. – Over half a million North Carolinians cast their ballots in local elections on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. Although the turnout overall was better than in the primaries, it was still bleak, with only 15.75% of eligible voters casting a vote, or 511,699 out of 3,247,872.
In Durham, 38,848 out of 206,929 (18.77%) registered voters cast their ballot in Tuesday’s election. Turnout in Orange County was slightly higher in the number of registered voters participating, with 19,480 out of 74,764 and a larger percentage (26.06%). 41,693 out of 243,328 registered voters in Wake County voted in the General Municipal Election, or 17.13%.

KENLY
Mayor: H.L. Hales wins
Council (At-Large): Beverly Hicks Knight wins
Council (At-Large): Keith Davis, LaWanda M. Neal, and Garrett Warren Stencil win
MEBANE
Mayor: Ed Hooks wins
Council (At-Large): Sean C. Ewing and Katie Burkholder win
MORRISVILLE
Council (At-Large): Satish S. Garimella wins
Council (District 1): Anne Robotti wins
Council (District 3): Liz Johnson wins
WAKE FOREST
Board of Commissioners (At-Large): Adam B. Wright, Ben Clapsaddle, and Faith Cross win
