Walker Group Health & Wellness (WGHW) has launched a pioneering Health Advocacy Program that serves organizations, schools, colleges/universities, churches, and the community. WGHW’s founder, Santisha Walker, a Registered Nurse and Certified Wellness Coach, states, “We are excited to offer this pioneering Health Advocacy Program locally as we continue to specialize in assisting with the well-being of employees and the community.”

WGHW is a boutique consulting company providing health and wellness guidance and education to organizations, groups, and the community. Understanding the direct correlation between an individual’s total wellness and ability to perform within any group setting, WGHW offers access to quality, effective, and practical health and wellness knowledge to aid groups in functioning at their highest level.

The majority of healthcare consumer’s (i.e., patients and families) challenges within the American healthcare system can be categorized under three major groups:

  • Effectively navigate the challenging healthcare system
  • Competently interact with their medical care team
  • Confidently make quality health decisions
Walker, through WGHW’s Health Advocacy Program, provides reliable insight and education to healthcare consumers by offering down-to-earth and practical guidance, instruction, tools, and resources based on her experience as a Registered Nurse and knowledge as a healthcare professional. (submitted)

Therefore, this pioneering Health Advocacy Program provides reliable insight and education to healthcare consumers by offering down-to-earth and practical guidance, instruction, tools, and resources based on a Registered Nurse’s work experience and healthcare professional knowledge from various healthcare settings.

Due to the nurse’s role as a skilled advocate, serving as a prominent liaison between the patient and other healthcare professionals (i.e., physicians, practitioners, pharmacists, therapists, etc.), nurses are highly qualified to protect the rights, health, and safety of the patient.

The ultimate goal of the Health Advocacy Program is to increase the self-awareness and confidence of the healthcare consumer by acquiring skills that can be immediately used to support advocacy efforts.

Partners with the WGHW’s Health Advocacy Program receive the opportunity to customize the program to their organization’s or group’s health advocacy-related needs. They also receive access to a detailed self-assessment tool for their organization or group, an on-site or virtual educational session, access to advocacy support resources, and re-evaluation to assess how their organization or group is doing since acquiring advocacy skills.

health advocacyThe Health Advocacy Program is specifically designed for:

  • Those who have a challenging time navigating the healthcare system, such as getting questions answered by healthcare professionals or unsure where to start when researching health-related information, medication, treatments, etc.
  • Those who feel intimated about having a face-to-face conversation with their physician and care team about a specific topic, procedure, treatment, or medication they are unfamiliar with.
  • Those who feel unprepared and perplexed when the need arises to make health-related decisions.

Although specifically designed for these groups of individuals, the Program benefits any healthcare consumer currently receiving or planning to receive medical, nursing, or healthcare services in any healthcare setting or at home.

Being confident enough to meet with physicians, address upcoming treatments, ask questions about medication, and act as an informed advocate puts the mind at ease when experiencing stress and anxiety related to one’s health and well-being.

Now is the ideal time to integrate WGHW’s Health Advocacy Program into your community or your organization’s wellness benefits and enhance the ability to advocate successfully, as this contributes to physical and mental health and overall well-being!
