“Diarra From Detroit”: BET+ Drops Trailer, Announces Cast Joining Phylicia Rashad, Morris Chestnut
BET+’s Diarra from Detroit has unveiled its trailer, as well as several recurring actors who are now a part of the cast.
Set to premiere March 21, recurring actors included are David Zayas as Marshall, Harry Lennix as Walter Harley, Paul Ben-Victor as Zervas, Bechir Sylvain as Roman, Kash Doll as Maisha, John Salley as Tony Kincaid, Icewear Vezzo as Leroy and Julio Macias as Young Marshall.
The newly-announced cast members join previously announced cast members Diarra Kilpatrick (who also serves as creator) as Diarra Brickland, Phylicia Rashad as Vonda, Morris Chestnut as Swa, DomiNque Perry as Aja, Claudia Logan as Moni, Bryan Terrell Clark as Mr. Tea, Shannon Wallace as Chris, and Jon Chaffin as Danger.
Kilpatrick is best known for her Primetime Emmy-nominated series American Koko, produced by Viola Davis for ABC Digital. She also wrote and acted on TBS’ The Last OG and wrote for Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here. She is a series regular on HBO’s Perry Mason.
The series follows Kilpatrick’s character, a teacher who finds herself on a dark journey of intrigue and crime, which all starts from a Tinder date.

DIARRA FROM DETROIT follows a divorcing schoolteacher who refuses to believe she’s been ghosted by her rebound Tinder date. Her search for the missing man pulls her into a decades-old mystery involving the Detroit underworld. As the case unfolds, her co-workers, friends, and lovers become unlikely allies as she falls down a dangerous rabbit hole.
From BET Studios and Khalabo Ink Society, Diarra from Detroit was created by Diarra Kilpatrick, who signed an overall deal with BET Studios/. She executive produces alongside Kenya Barris for Khalabo Ink Society and Miles Orion Feldsott. Erynn Sampson serves as a producer, overseeing the project for Khalabo Ink Society.
