NC State Dominates Against Chattanooga, Moves On to Second Round

RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina State Wolfpack defeated the Chattanooga Mocs 64-45 on Saturday in the Reynolds Coliseum to advance to the NCAA second round.

Chattanooga had a fast-paced offense that the Pack could not keep up with to start the game. NC State was slow to get points on the board. It was not until almost three minutes in that Saniya Rivers got the Wolfpack on the board with a three-pointer.

The Wolfpack went on a 9-0 run to turn things around and forced Chattanooga into a two-minute scoring drought to finish the first quarter.

Maddie Cox checked in for NC State and started the second quarter like the first with a three-pointer.

The second quarter had little action. The Wolfpack distributed the ball well and held the Mocs to only eight points.

For the third straight quarter, the Pack started with a three-pointer, this time from Aziaha James.

Chattanooga came out of halftime with a little more life and continued to play aggressively but still struggled to contain the Wolfpack. NC State dominated the third quarter and extended its lead to 19 with the help of a couple of runs.

Chattanooga fell beyond a point of return and NC State would secure the 64-45 victory.

NC State struggled early on with making shots and committing turnovers but soon fixed it and began to dominate. Chattanooga struggled throughout the game to tame the Wolfpack, make shots, and could not get anything going for themselves but never gave up.

The Wolfpack was a little slow to start but eventually woke up and took the lead in the first quarter then led for 34 minutes. Chattanooga played quickly on their feet but struggled to connect.

Up next, NC State will host Tennessee on Monday.
