Throwin’ Blows? What Really Went Down With Secret Service Agent Assigned To VP Kamala Harris

An incident at Joint Base Andrews involving a U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris — is causing quite a stir.

On Wednesday (April 24), TMZ reported that a Secret Service agent assigned to Harris allegedly “attacked” his supervisor at the Maryland air base and was removed from her detail. On social media, people instantly began to raise concerns about the Vice President’s safety and the vetting of her Secret Service.

More details have emerged about the incident, which, according to reporting from CBS News — stemmed from a mental health issue.

According to CBS, authorities said the agent was exhibiting “distressing behavior” on Monday. Two sources told CBS that the agent was speaking in “gibberish” and “provoked another officer physically.”

He was reportedly handcuffed and restrained before being taken to the hospital to receive treatment. The outlet reported that this is being treated as a mental health and medical issue as opposed to a disciplinary matter. According to the sources who spoke to CBS, the agent is receiving further evaluation to determine whether or not he can return to work.

It’s still unclear exactly what happened with the Secret Service agent. However, everyone concerned about the Vice President’s well-being should rest assured she was unharmed.

According to CBS, Harris was away from the airbase at the Naval Observatory when the incident took place. Harris reportedly arrived at Joint Base Andrews an hour later and was able to fly out of the airbase to Wisconsin without any issues.
