Fatal Shooting On Fayetteville Street In Durham Monday Night; Victim Identified

DURHAM – The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1300 block of Fayetteville Street. 

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on June 3, 2024, officers responded to the report of a shooting near Fayetteville and Linwood Avenue. When officers arrived, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The victim in this fatal shooting has been identified as Roy Shealey, 62, of Durham.

Investigators are determining the circumstances surrounding this incident. This is an ongoing investigation and appears to be an isolated incident. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time.
