NCCU Student Carrie Everett Crowned Miss North Carolina 2024
RALEIGH, NC – A new Miss North Carolina has been crowned.
Carrie Everett was crowned on Saturday, June 29.
Everett is Miss Johnston County and is a rising Sophomore at NC Central University (NCCU), an HBCU in Durham.
During the competition, Everett promoted her community service initiative “We Need Equity to Build Communities,” and she performed a musical theater vocal to “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from “Dreamgirls.”
“When I registered to compete this year, I only had $40 in my pocket,” Carrie Everett said. “That is the reality of many young women in this country. I believe in the Miss America Opportunity and what it has done and continues to do for young women like me. With this title, I am empowered and ready to facilitate a new culture of equity within this brand.”
Everett will receive $20,000, a car for the year, and an additional $3,500 in scholarships for other awards she won during pageant week. Everette will represent North Carolina in the Miss America pageant.
David Clegg, President and Chairman of the Miss North Carolina Organization Board of Directors, said this about Everett’s win, “The crowning of Carrie Everett marks another opportunity to present to the state the unique experience, talents, and civic commitment of this exceptional NCCU student.”
