Durham County Chief Deputy Graduates From Prestigious Chief Deputies’ Leadership Institute

Whitted

DURHAM, NC – A pivotal moment in the leadership of the Durham County Sheriff’s Office unfolded as one of its esteemed members, Chief Deputy Sheriff Robert “Brad” Whitted, recently graduated from the prestigious Chief Deputies’ Leadership Institute, organized by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association (NCSA).

Chief Whitted received a diploma from NCSA after completing three (3) weeks of training accompanied by other chief deputies from across the State. The graduation ceremony took place at a local hotel in Durham.

“We are honored to have Chief Whitted represent the Durham County Sheriff’s Office in this way,” said Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead. “We know he put in a lot of hard work, dedication, and determination to achieve this goal as he continues our office’s mission of honor, duty, and service here at DCSO. This professional achievement also happened with other Chief Deputies from North Carolina who support the Office of the Sheriff. They are a critical link between a Sheriff, a Sheriff’s staff, and the local community.”

Whitted has worked in law enforcement for more than 30 years. In December 2018, Sheriff Birkhead appointed him to his current position. As Chief Deputy, Whitted oversees all DCSO law enforcement divisions, including the operation and maintenance of the Durham County Detention Facility.

Founded in 1922, the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association is a statewide not-for-profit professional and educational organization of this state’s 100 sheriffs. Through their Association, sheriffs work to strengthen the law enforcement profession and the services their offices provide to the people of North Carolina. Click here to learn more about the NCSA.
