Arrest Made: Raleigh Police Conduct Homicide Investigation Of Shooting On Briarmont Court

RALEIGH, NC — At approximately 9:52 a.m. on August 2, the Raleigh Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Briarmont Court in reference to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

There is a suspect in custody at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The below news release update was distributed on August 2 at 3:39 PM:

The adult male victim in this incident succumbed to his injuries. The man has been identified as 51-year-old Sherice Dangelo McClain.

Wake County Reserve Deputy Yalanda Moore-McClain owned the home where the shooting happened. Sources said she worked full-time for the sheriff’s office for nearly 11 years until 2009.

According to investigators, Moore-McClain was shot Friday morning alongside her husband, Sherice, outside their townhome on Briarmont Court, north of 440 near Walnut Creek.

Wilcox

Julius Maurice Wilcox, 46, has been identified as the suspect in this case. Wilcox is charged with Murder in the homicide of Sherice Dangelo McClain, 51. He is also charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury for the assault against the adult female who was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.
