Seeking Public’s Assistance In Locating Suspect in April 2024 Murder
DURHAM, NC – Durham Police investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Mychal Quinton Mercer, 33, who is wanted for the murder of Ashir Harrington, 19, that occurred on West Morgan Street in April 2024.
At approximately 2:02 am on April 28, 2024, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound in a parking lot near the intersection of West Morgan Street and Watts Street. When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim, later identified as Harrington, suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS transported Harrington to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Mercer has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and discharging a weapon into an occupied property in connection with this incident.
Mercer is described as a Black male who is 5’8” tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. He has facial tattoos above his eyebrows.
