Violent Altercation At McDonald’s Over A Soft Drink Results In A Shooting
SELMA – Selma Police are conducting an investigation into an altercation at McDonald’s located at 335 US Highway 70 East that resulted in the shooting of one individual.
Police responded to McDonald’s around 8:25 pm Thursday (Sept. 5). Investigators located one person suffering from a gunshot wound. They were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
As many as four other people sustained minor injuries during a physical altercation inside.
Police believe the incident began with a dispute between a customer and an employee over the size of a soft drink ordered at the drive-thru. The altercation escalated inside the restaurant, involving multiple people.
During the disturbance, a gunshot was fired, and a male, who was in a relationship with an employee, was shot.
Police obtained warrants against four suspects. As of Friday afternoon, two of the four individuals were in custody. Officers are withholding the names of the suspects until all four individuals are in custody.
Detectives believe the incident started when a customer allegedly felt they were given the incorrect soft drink cup size with a drive-thru order.
