Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Arrested, In Custody Following Federal Grand Jury Indictment

NEW YORK, NY – Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in New York on Monday after being indicted by a federal grand jury. The details of the indictment remain sealed, but federal agents took Combs into custody in a Manhattan hotel. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, stated that Combs had cooperated with the investigation and expressed disappointment over the charges, describing the prosecution as “unjust.”

The arrest follows months of sexual assault allegations from multiple women, including his former girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie. Her November lawsuit, which was settled shortly after being filed, accused Combs of years of abuse, including sex trafficking and coercion. The case, along with leaked video footage of Combs assaulting Cassie, led to a loss of supporters and significant damage to his business ventures.

The federal investigation into Combs was revealed earlier this year when Homeland Security agents raided his Los Angeles and Miami homes. Combs, 58, has denied the allegations, and his attorney claims the charges stem from “meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits.”

Once known for his role in the 1990s East Coast-West Coast hip-hop rivalry, Diddy Combs’ public image had softened over the years as a successful businessman and family man. However, the recent accusations and legal battles have greatly influenced his legacy.

As the founder of Bad Boy Records, Combs became one of the most influential hip-hop producers and executives of the past three decades. Along with the Notorious B.I.G., he worked with many top-tier artists, including Mary J. Blige, Usher, Lil Kim, Faith Evans and 112.

Combs’s roles in his businesses beyond music—including lucrative private-label spirits, a media company, and the Sean John Fashion line—took major hits when the allegations arose.

The consequences were even more significant when the leaked beating video emerged. Howard University cut ties with him, and he returned his key to the city of New York at the mayor’s request.

Further details of the indictment are expected to be released as the case progresses.
