Seasonal Loose Leaf Collection Kicks Off in Raleigh This November
RALEIGH, NC – The City of Raleigh’s annual loose leaf collection is back, inviting residents to rake up their fall leaves and get ready for curbside pickup! Beginning Tuesday, November 12, collection crews will start in Zone 5 and work their way through all 12 designated zones, depending on weather and equipment availability. Residents are encouraged to rake leaves into piles near the curb (but not in the street) for easy collection.
The city’s collection crews, equipped with giant vacuums, will gather the leaves to keep neighborhoods clean and tidy. To find out when your area will be serviced, check the seasonal collection schedule or use the city’s interactive map.
Weather Impacts
The loose leaf collection is weather-dependent. Cold, wet conditions, as well as snow and ice, can delay or temporarily halt operations. The City of Raleigh monitors weather forecasts closely and will keep residents updated if any disruptions occur.
Alternatives to Loose Leaf Collection
The City encourages residents to consider other eco-friendly options for managing leaves:
- Mulching: A great way to conserve water, prevent weeds, and improve lawn and garden health while also benefiting the environment.
- Bi-Weekly Yard Waste Collection: Residents can utilize their new yard waste carts and up to 15 biodegradable paper bags for leaves, which will be collected during regular yard waste pickups.
