Popular Frozen Waffles and Pancakes Recalled in North Carolina Could Make You Sick

NORTH CAROLINA — TreeHouse Foods, Inc. has issued a nationwide recall, including in North Carolina, for various frozen breakfast products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. These bacteria can cause serious health risks. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the recall covers frozen toaster waffles, Belgian waffles, and pancakes manufactured at a single facility.

Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause listeriosis, an illness that can be particularly dangerous for high-risk groups, such as children, the elderly, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. In severe cases, it can lead to more serious conditions or even be fatal, especially for those in vulnerable groups.

The recalled products have Lot Codes beginning with “2C” and were distributed throughout the United States and Canadian provinces. They are sold under various labels in major retail stores, including Walmart, Target, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons, Aldi, H-E-B, and Dollar General. Customers who may have purchased these items should check the Lot Codes and immediately dispose of any affected products. No confirmed illnesses have been reported so far, but the FDA urges consumers to act cautiously.
