Second Arrest Made: Raleigh Police Continue Investigating Shots Fired At Crabtree Valley Mall
RALEIGH, NC – The Raleigh Police Department reports today (Oct. 30) that it has made a second arrest related to the October 26 shooting incident at Crabtree Valley Mall. The latest suspect, identified as Jamarion Quaben Burton, 22, has been charged with felony Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property. This follows the arrest of Jaquez Anthony Brown, 24, who was taken into custody on October 28.
Brown initially faced outstanding warrants from Durham for Assault on a Female and Communicating Threats. After further investigation, Raleigh police determined Brown’s direct involvement in the Crabtree Valley Mall incident, charging him with Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property.
Incident Timeline
- October 26, 1:35 PM: Officers responded to reports of shots fired in a parking deck outside of Crabtree Valley Mall, located at 4325 Glenwood Avenue. Upon arrival, they found multiple shell casings and observed damage to nearby vehicles from gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
- Suspect Fleeing: One suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, striking another vehicle in the process. No injuries resulted from this crash.
Raleigh police are collaborating closely with Crabtree Valley Mall management to gather evidence. On Saturday, areas of the parking deck near Macy’s remained temporarily closed during the immediate investigation, although the mall itself remained open to the public.
Authorities believe additional suspects may be involved. The investigation is active, and further arrests are possible.
