Durham Police Charge Three with First-Degree Murder in Connection with September Homicide

DURHAM, NC – The Durham Police Department has arrested and charged three suspects in the murder of 23-year-old Dashaun Johnson, which occurred on September 15, 2024, on Dubonnet Place.

Incident Overview 

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to reports of a gunshot wound in the area of Glenbrook Drive and Dubonnet Place. Upon arrival, they found Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS transported him to a local hospital with serious injuries, but he was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.

All three individuals have been charged with first-degree murder. Additionally, Marcus Beatty Jr. and Simone Cameron face charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The suspects are currently held in the Durham County Jail without bond.
