DCSO Narcotics Unit Arrests Durham Woman in Major Cocaine Trafficking Case
DURHAM, NC – A significant drug trafficking investigation led by the Durham County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Anti-Crime and Narcotics Unit (SAC/Narc), with assistance from the U.S. Homeland Security Task Force (HSI), resulted in the arrest of a Durham woman and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics and cash.
On the evening of Thursday, November 21, investigators located Yadira Hernandez-Perez, 42, of Durham, and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, authorities discovered approximately $76,000 in cash inside her vehicle. Upon questioning, Hernandez-Perez admitted to having a significant quantity of narcotics at her residence.
With her permission, investigators searched her home and uncovered approximately 18 kilograms of cocaine, a haul with an estimated street value of millions of dollars. Hernandez-Perez was promptly arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking in Cocaine
- Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance
She was taken before a magistrate and is currently being held at the Durham County Detention Facility under a $250,000 secured bond.
