Durham Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on Bertland Avenue
Durham, NC – The Durham Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Bertland Avenue on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Officers responded to the 2900 block of Bertland Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. after receiving a report of a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been shot. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were called to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead.
Victim Identified
Authorities have identified the victim as Gary Singletary, 52, of Durham. Based on a preliminary investigation, police do not believe the shooting was random.
