Defense Leads Duke To Win Versus George Mason

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team combined a hot-shooting second half with a solid defensive performance to defeat the George Mason Patriots 68-47 in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke was led by freshman forward Cooper Flagg, who finished with 24 points and nine rebounds.

Both teams’ first half was sloppy. Both teams shot under 30%. The Blue Devils held a 25-16 lead at the halftime break.

Duke’s second half was stronger. They continued to play solid defense and improved their shooting percentage to 52%, shooting 12-of-23.

Cooper Flagg scored 17 of his 24 in the second half.

Freshman Isaiah Evans came off the bench to score all of his nine points in the second half to help the Blue Devils secure a win.

The Patriots were led by senior center Jalen Haynes, who finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Duke returns to action on Saturday, December 21, at noon when they face a tough Georgia Tech team in Atlanta.
