Durham Man Arrested in Undercover Drug Investigation

DURHAM, NC – On Wednesday, December 11, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime and Narcotics Unit (SAC/Narc), in collaboration with the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), arrested Aaron Donald Brooks, 40, following a months-long investigation into methamphetamine distribution.

The investigation began after SAC/Narc detectives received multiple tips regarding narcotics sales on the dating app “Grindr.” Detectives identified Brooks as the suspect and conducted controlled purchases of methamphetamine on multiple occasions, culminating in his arrest on the evening of December 11.

During the execution of a search warrant at Brooks’ residence in Durham, authorities discovered additional controlled substances, including mushrooms and cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia, packaging materials, and a significant amount of cash.

Brooks has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Two counts of Sell Methamphetamine
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver (PWIMSD) Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Manufacture/Deliver/Sell/Possess Drugs Within 1,000 Feet of a Park
  • Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Brooks is currently being held in the Durham County Detention Facility without bond.
