Travis Webb

The incident began just before 9 p.m. when a Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force Agent conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation on West 5th Street in Roanoke Rapids. During the stop, a narcotics K9 alerted deputies, providing probable cause to search the vehicle.

Deputies discovered a large amount of money inside the car and found cocaine hidden on the driver, 44-year-old Travis Webb, who fled on foot during the search.

Tampering Caught on Camera

Tammy Webb

While agents, assisted by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, searched for Travis Webb, his wife, 47-year-old Tammy Webb, arrived at the scene of the vehicle stop. Security footage later confirmed that Tammy Webb took $5,800 in cash and a cell phone from the car before law enforcement returned to secure it.

Second Arrest

Hours later, around midnight, deputies observed the Webbs returning to their home on East Third Street. However, upon noticing law enforcement, the couple continued driving and were stopped again shortly after. Both Travis and Tammy Webb were arrested.

Charges and Statements

During her arrest, Tammy Webb reportedly identified herself as an employee of Halifax County Department of Social Services and allegedly asked law enforcement not to charge her for removing items from the vehicle.

The couple faces charges for altering, destroying, or stealing evidence of criminal conduct and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a law enforcement officer. Travis Webb received a $4,000 bond, while Tammy Webb was given a $3,000 bond.

Search of Home Uncovers Additional Evidence

Following their arrests, police searched the Webb residence and uncovered a stolen firearm and a small amount of marijuana.

The next day, officers also recovered the cocaine Travis Webb had discarded while fleeing, found in a yard along his escape route.
