Durham Man Found Fatally Shot in Car in Johnston County, Investigation Underway

BENSON, NC – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Durham man found shot in the back seat of a vehicle early Sunday morning.

Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person dressed in black on Holly Grove Road in Benson around 1 a.m. The report also noted a car in the area with its emergency flashers on.

A North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper arrived first and discovered 57-year-old Emmanuel Kwame Gbedee deceased in the vehicle’s back seat.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released any additional details about the case, including suspect information, as the investigation remains active.
