Wil Glenn Named Orange County’s New Community Relations Director

ORANGE COUNTY, NC – Wil Glenn has been appointed Community Relations Director for Orange County, bringing over two decades of experience in government and nonprofit communications to the role. His first day will be March 10.
The Community Relations Department serves as a bridge between local government and the community, fostering transparency, trust, and public engagement. Glenn will lead efforts to enhance communication, strengthen relationships, and address community concerns in his new position.
Extensive Experience in Public Affairs
Glenn joins Orange County from the Town of Morrisville, where he served as Director of Communications & Outreach. In that role, he led a five-person team, overseeing internal and external communications, media relations, strategic messaging, and public engagement. Before that, he directed the Public Affairs Unit of the Durham Police Department, where he played a pivotal role in community outreach and crisis communications.
With more than 21 years of experience, Glenn has held leadership roles in:
- Wake County Government – Public Affairs Manager
- Durham County Government – Public Affairs & Communications
- North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) – Assistant Director of Communications
- North Carolina Bar Association – Assistant Director of Communications
- Biofuels Center of North Carolina – Public Affairs & Communications
Throughout his career, Glenn has been a key figure in shaping public communication strategies, working closely with elected officials, government leaders, and community stakeholders to promote transparency and civic engagement.

Education & Background
A North Carolina Central University graduate, Glenn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Information Science.
With a strong foundation in strategic communication, media relations, and public affairs, Glenn is well-equipped to lead Orange County’s community engagement efforts.
His appointment signals Orange County’s continued commitment to open dialogue, public transparency, and responsive government.
