EAST POINT, GA – The family of Antonio Frost Jr., a 24-year-old father of two, is facing an unimaginable legal and financial nightmare following his tragic shooting death on February 2nd. The alleged shooter—his girlfriend and life insurance beneficiary, D’azyia Elliott—is now behind bars, charged with murder, but because she is listed as the sole beneficiary, his life insurance payout is frozen, leaving his loved ones unable to cover funeral costs.

A Life Cut Short by Domestic Violence

Frost was killed at The Woods at Camp Creek apartment complex after what police say was an argument over finances between him and Elliott, who is also the mother of his two children. His aunt, Amy Jackson, vividly recalls the moment she received the devastating call.

“I could hear my sister screaming on the phone, ‘Amy, he’s gone, he’s gone.’ Those words will live with me forever,” Jackson told WSBTV.

A Hardworking Father Remembered

Frost was known as a dedicated provider, balancing a warehouse job during the day and driving for DoorDash at night to support his family.

“My nephew was such a good father, a good provider. No one in this world can say a mean thing about him. We call him a big teddy bear,” Jackson said.

Now, his family is left in financial limbo, unable to access the funds meant to cover his burial because Elliott’s beneficiary status prevents the payout until the legal case is resolved—a process that could take months or even years.

Financial and Legal Complications

Emanuel Jones, president of Jones & Co. Wealth Strategies, explains that while insurance companies are required to verify proper payouts, delays in cases where the beneficiary is a murder suspect can leave grieving families without financial support.

“Insurance companies do everything they can to ensure payouts go to the appropriate hands, but families need to be proactive in protecting their policies,” Jones said, recommending naming trusts as beneficiaries to avoid such complications.

Raising Awareness About Domestic Violence & Financial Protection

Frost’s family is not only seeking justice but also hoping to raise awareness about domestic violence and financial safeguards.

“Make sure you know the person you’re dealing with. Make sure you truly understand because once you lose something in life, it’s a deep pain,” Jackson urged.

A Community Steps Up

In the meantime, Frost’s loved ones have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral expenses, which has raised over $4,200 so far.

As they fight for closure and justice, they call on the community for support and awareness—ensuring that no other family has to endure this kind of financial and emotional hardship in the wake of tragedy.
