TV One’s New Series “Savor the City” Explores Black Culinary History with Chef Jernard Wells
In honor of Black History Month, TV One is serving up a delicious new series, “Savor the City,” premiering Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 8P/7C. Hosted by acclaimed chef, author, and TV personality Chef Jernard Wells, the food and travel series will take audiences on a flavorful journey through the rich intersection of culture and cuisine.
Known for his signature Southern-inspired cooking with a modern twist, Chef Wells will explore the culinary roots of some of the nation’s most influential cities, uncovering the untold stories of Black food innovators, entrepreneurs, and cultural traditions. From the origins of Nashville hot chicken to the Afro-Caribbean flavors of Miami, the show will highlight how food and history are deeply intertwined.
This season features special appearances by industry trailblazers, including Fawn Weaver of Uncle Nearest and Robin McBride of the McBride Sisters Collection, with stops in New Orleans, Sag Harbor, San Francisco, Martha’s Vineyard, Napa Valley, the Bahamas, and more. Watch the trailer below.
“Savor the City” continues TV One’s commitment to impactful and culturally resonant storytelling, following in the footsteps of hit series like “Uncensored,” “Unsung,” and “Raising Fame.”
Produced by Powerhouse Productions, with Rochelle Brown and Sonia Armstead as Executive Producers, the series promises to celebrate Black excellence in food, history, and innovation.
