Belk Expands Outlet Empire: New Stores Coming to Raleigh & Charlotte Area
CHARLOTTE, NC – Belk is expanding its outlet presence in North Carolina with two new locations—one in Raleigh and one near Charlotte—set to open this spring.

The Charlotte-based retailer will launch Belk Outlet stores at Eastridge Mall in Gastonia and Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh, the company announced Friday. This follows the success of its first North Carolina outlet, which opened last year at Northlake Mall in Charlotte.
Belk Outlets offers clearance items from larger Belk stores and high-end brands previously unavailable in traditional locations. The first Belk Outlet debuted in Greeneville, Tennessee, in January 2023, and the chain has since grown to 16 locations.
Similar to the Northlake Mall setup, the new Gastonia and Raleigh outlets will feature a two-level concept:
- The second floor will house a traditional Belk store
- The first floor will be dedicated to outlet shopping
“This will give even more of our North Carolina customers the ability to shop a large range of designer and high-end national brands at a lower cost,” Belk CEO Don Hendricks said in a statement.
Belk’s Corporate Shifts & Financial Moves
In addition to its retail expansion, Belk is making changes at the corporate level. Last week, the company confirmed that corporate employees must now return to in-office work three days a week at its Charlotte headquarters at 2801 W. Tyvola Road.
The retailer has nearly 300 department stores across 16 Southeast states and has undergone major financial restructuring in recent years. After emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2021, Belk slashed its debt, secured $485 million in new financing, and made leadership changes.
With its latest expansion, Belk is doubling down on its strategy to strengthen its financial standing and bring more discounted designer brands to North Carolina shoppers.
