Eagles WBB Rout Delaware State; Callahan Reaches 1,000 Career Points
DOVER, MD – North Carolina Central University’s women’s basketball team dominated Delaware State with an 82-47 victory at Memorial Hall on Monday night. The 35-point win ties the Eagles’ largest margin of victory this season and solidifies their fourth-place position in the MEAC standings as the regular season nears its end.
Callahan Joins NCCU’s 1,000-Point Club

Senior Morgan Callahan reached a major career milestone, surpassing 1,000 career points on her final basket of the night early in the fourth quarter. Callahan, who also has over 600 career rebounds, finished the game with 10 points and four blocks.
Balanced Offensive Attack

NCCU (8-17, 5-5 MEAC) had five players score in double figures, showcasing an efficient offensive performance:
- Aysia Hinton led the Eagles with 14 points
- Jada Tiggett provided a strong presence off the bench, scoring 13 points
- Shakiria Foster added 12 points
- Tierney Coleman had an all-around game with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists
- Morgan Callahan reached 10 points in her milestone performance
Defensive Dominance & Team Contributions

NCCU controlled both ends of the floor, shooting 50% from the field and 45% from three-point range (9-for-20) while holding Delaware State to just 28.1% shooting and 1-for-10 from beyond the arc.
The Eagles also recorded a season-high 13 blocked shots, with Tiggett (6) and Callahan (4) leading the way. The defensive intensity continued with 11 steals, including three from Coleman.
Game Breakdown
NCCU set the tone early, jumping out to a 10-1 lead and taking a 34-21 advantage into halftime. The Eagles outscored Delaware State 19-5 in the third quarter, extending their lead to 53-26 heading into the final period.
With 39 points coming from the bench, the depth of NCCU’s roster played a key role in securing the win. Laila Lewis contributed seven points and three rebounds in just seven minutes of play, while Tiggett and Coleman combined for 24 points off the bench.
This victory marks NCCU’s third straight win over Delaware State and eighth win in the last nine matchups between the two programs.

The Eagles will look to keep their momentum going on Wednesday, Feb. 26, as they travel to face Maryland Eastern Shore in another MEAC contest. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
