NC Woman Charged After Locking Boyfriend in Storage Unit for Days Without Food or Water
MONROE, NC – A North Carolina woman is facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges after allegedly trapping her boyfriend inside a storage unit for several days without food, water, or a power source, authorities said.

Robin Deaton, 52, of Matthews, was arrested early Thursday (Feb. 27) following a police manhunt, the Monroe Police Department confirmed.
Her 51-year-old boyfriend was locked inside the storage unit last Thursday (Feb. 20) at Cooper Storage in Monroe. According to police, Deaton tricked him into crawling to the back of the unit to retrieve something before slamming the door shut and securing it with two locks, reportedly telling him, “This is what you get.”
The 911 Call and Rescue
After spending several days trapped inside, the man finally located his phone and called 911 on Monday, desperate for help.

“I’ve been locked in a storage unit for about a week now, and I’ve just now found my phone,” he told the dispatcher in the 911 call released by Union County Emergency Services.
“My girlfriend locked me in here. She doubled up my lock, and I don’t know how she put me in it, but she put me in here,” he explained, adding that he was in unit 43 and that his phone battery was about to die.
When asked if he needed emergency services, he pleaded, “I just need to get out of here. I just can’t breathe. I haven’t had nothing to drink or anything.”
Police arrived at the facility around 1:15 p.m. Monday and freed the man, who was immediately transported to a local hospital. He has since been released, according to Charlotte ABC affiliate WSOC.
Deaton remains in custody as the investigation continues.
