NC Man Behind Viral ‘Thank You Jesus’ Signs Arrested for Child Exploitation

ASHEBORO, NC – A North Carolina man who gained national recognition for spreading “Thank You Jesus” yard signs is now facing serious criminal charges involving child exploitation.

Lucas Timothy Hunt, 25, a co-founder of the Thank You Jesus Mission, was arrested on Feb. 25 and charged with second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Hunt is accused of receiving a sexually explicit video of a minor. Authorities have not released further details about the case.

The investigation began in January 2025 after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a cyber tip to the Invictus Task Force. This law enforcement team targets internet crimes against children, sexual abuse, and human trafficking. The task force, which includes members from Homeland Security and the State Bureau of Investigation, identified Hunt as a suspect, leading to his arrest.

Following his arrest, the organization’s president, Constance “Connie” Frazier, stated that the board would meet soon to discuss Hunt’s future with the mission, emphasizing that the movement is “bigger than one person.”

Hunt is currently being held in the Randolph County Detention Center on a $75,000 secured bond. He had his first court appearance on Feb. 26. It remains unclear if he has entered a plea or retained legal representation.
