Man Killed in Durham Carjacking, Police Seek Public’s Help In Search for Suspect

DURHAM, NC – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Tiffany Springfield, 39, who has been charged with murder in connection with the death of John Walker Jr., 39, in early February.
Homicide Investigation Unfolds
The case, initially classified as a death investigation, took a turn when further evidence revealed that Walker was killed during a violent carjacking.
On February 7, 2025, at approximately 6:52 p.m., Durham police responded to a report of an unconscious man in a parking lot on the 2100 block of N. Roxboro Street. When officers arrived, they found Walker unresponsive. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Suspect Identified & Charged
Following an in-depth investigation, police determined that Walker’s death resulted from injuries sustained during the carjacking. On February 21, 2025, authorities formally charged Tiffany Springfield with murder.
However, Springfield remains at large, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.
