Raleigh Bank Robbery Suspect Fires Shot Inside Branch, Captured by Police
RALEIGH, NC — A Monday morning bank robbery at a busy Capital Boulevard branch took a dangerous turn when the suspect fired a shot inside the bank before fleeing with stolen cash.
At approximately 9:57 AM on March 24, 2025, the Raleigh Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the branch of First Citizens Bank located at 4801 Capital Boulevard.

According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect — later identified as 33-year-old Christopher Antonio Gilmore — entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. During the terrifying incident, Gilmore reportedly fired one round into the air inside the bank before making his escape with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Thanks to swift police response and investigative efforts, Gilmore was quickly located and taken into custody. He now faces several serious charges, including:
- Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Discharging a Weapon in Occupied Property
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Second-Degree Kidnapping
No injuries were reported, but the robbery has left customers and staff shaken. Authorities are continuing to investigate, and additional information will be released as the case develops.
