Early Hours Coming to 42 More DMV Offices Starting April 7, Saturday Service Returns This Summer
ROCKY MOUNT, NC — Great news for North Carolina drivers! Beginning April 7, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) will expand its weekday hours at 42 additional driver license offices, opening at 7 a.m. This move brings the total to 92 offices statewide—or 80% of all locations—offering early-morning access Monday through Friday.
“I am ecstatic that we are able to further expand our service hours,” said DMV Commissioner Wayne Goodwin. “This expansion is part of our commitment to meet the growing demand for service across our state.”
The expansion continues a steady trend: in the last two years, NCDMV has nearly quadrupled the number of early-opening offices—from just 25 in 2022 to 92 this spring.
