Michael Jordan Opens Fourth Family Medical Clinic in NC, Expanding Access to Care in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC — NBA legend and Wilmington native Michael Jordan continues his mission to bring quality health care to underserved communities with the opening of the fourth Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic in North Carolina.

The new clinic—Jordan’s second in his hometown—is a partnership with Novant Health and officially began welcoming patients in February. Located at 416 N. 30th St., the 7,300-square-foot facility includes 12 patient rooms and operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The clinic provides primary care services for all patients, including those who are uninsured or underinsured.

“It’s truly gratifying to know that in less than a year, our first Novant clinic in Wilmington has already made a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of individuals and families in my hometown,” said Michael Jordan. “Visiting Wilmington last year for the opening of our first clinic was incredibly moving, and it reinforced just how important access to quality health care is for the community.”

According to Ernie Bovio, president of the Novant Health Coastal Region, the newest location builds on the success of Jordan’s first Wilmington clinic on Greenfield Street, which opened last year and served nearly 1,800 patients in its first nine months.

“We are profoundly grateful to Michael Jordan for his generosity and vision,” Bovio said. “These clinics are changing lives.”

Jordan’s medical facility model first launched in Charlotte in 2019. It aims to remove barriers to health care, such as transportation. Many first-time patients found hope, dignity, and critical care at the Charlotte clinics, which sparked Jordan’s decision to invest further in Wilmington.

Jordan’s $10 million gift to the Novant Health foundations helped make the expansion possible.

In addition to full primary care services, the new East Wilmington clinic includes a community health worker to help connect patients with support resources. Novant Health’s Community Care Cruiser extends services throughout the region to both Wilmington locations.
