ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament Moving To Atlanta

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament is headed to the Greater Atlanta area, bringing the longest-running Division I collegiate conference women’s basketball tournament to Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia. The decision to award the 2026 event to Gas South Arena followed an extensive bid process and subsequent evaluation by the league’s coaches and administrators

The 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, set for March 4-8, will be the 49th in league history and will mark just the sixth different neutral site to host the event. The tournament has been played in Greensboro, North Carolina, for 25 of the past 26 seasons with the one exclusion being in Conway, South Carolina, in 2017. Prior to Greensboro, the tournament was held in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1997-1999 after being held at Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill, South Carolina, from 1992-1996. The first neutral site was Fayetteville, North Carolina, from 1983-1991. The first five ACC Tournaments (1978-1982) were held on campus sites.

Gas South Arena is a vibrant, versatile venue hosting a wide range of concerts, sporting events, family shows, and more. It is home to the East Coast Hockey League’s Atlanta Gladiators, the National Lacrosse League’s Georgia Swarm and the Pro Volleyball Federation’s Atlanta Vibe. The arena offers a variety of food and beverage options and features a removable ice rink for ice entertainment shows. The newly renovated Gas South Convention Center, situated on the Gas South District campus, will serve as the home of ACC Fan Fest during the tournament. Gas South District is centrally located near numerous hotels, including The Westin Atlanta Gwinnett on-site, as well as restaurants and shopping throughout the metro area.

The arena, located about 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, has a capacity of 13,000. It features 30 corporate suites, two party suites and club-level seating, along with a spacious concourse and wider seats. Additionally, it is equipped with a high-end sound system and acoustical enhancements to ensure a top-notch experience for every event.

This season, the 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament drew more than 70,000 fans for the first time since 2009. The title game which featured No. 11 Duke and No. 7 NC State set an attendance record with 11,823 fans, surpassing the previous mark set in 2005 and 2007 of 11,538.
