Durham Police Capture Teen Wanted for Attempted Murder and Kidnapping After High-Speed Chase

DURHAM, NC — A 17-year-old male juvenile suspect was taken into custody Friday evening following a multi-agency pursuit through Durham County. The teen was wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping in connection with a case out of Alamance County.

Pursuit Begins in Durham’s Burch Avenue Area

At approximately 5:52 p.m. on April 4, 2025, Durham Police officers located a Jeep matching the description of the suspect vehicle in the 900 block of Burch Avenue. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, sparking a pursuit through the city.

Chase Ends with Arrest on Stagville Road

The Durham County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit. Around 6:20 p.m., deputies deployed stop sticks on Stagville Road near Joe Ellis Road, successfully bringing the vehicle to a stop. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.

Charges Filed in Multiple Jurisdictions

The juvenile now faces multiple charges in both Durham and Alamance counties, including:

  • Fleeing to Elude Arrest
  • Hit and Run
  • Driving While License Revoked
  • Minor in Possession of a Firearm

In addition, the suspect was served with outstanding warrants for Attempted Murder and Kidnapping stemming from an unrelated case in Alamance County.

Due to the suspect’s age, his name has not been released.
