UPDATE: Sumner Boulevard Shooting Ruled a Murder-Suicide Related to Domestic Violence

RALEIGH, NC  – The second individual involved in yesterday afternoon’s shooting on Sumner Boulevard has died, Raleigh Police confirmed.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident was domestic violence-related, as the two adults were acquainted. Investigators believe the male victim, found deceased at the scene, fatally shot the female victim before taking his own life.

Out of respect for the families, the identities of the individuals are not being released at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to review evidence and interview witnesses.

RALEIGH, NC – The Raleigh Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in the 2900 block of Sumner Boulevard.

At approximately 3:03 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community at this time. Investigators remain on the scene gathering evidence and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation on Sumner Boulevard. Additional information will be released when appropriate.
